Q2: What’s the best way to add new music? Should I be putting new music in the “auto-add to iTunes” folder on the NAS drive? Should I use something like SuperSync? If I drag new music files into the QNAP Music Station it creates new folder based on the date and does not add the new music into the iTunes folder. This happens when I select my shared library in iTunes but then I run into issues creating new playlists and using iTunes to sync new music to my iPhone Ideally I would just want the music to read from the server and play the file. Q1 (more critical): How do I solve this “new track-folder creation” problem. Dre) it created a new folder and put the track that I just played into it, all outside the music folder. And anytime I played a song from iTunes on my laptop (Calvin Harris, Dr. When I added the new Drake song, it created a new Drake folder in the iTunes folder but outside the Music folder. When I viewed the file directory, I noticed something strange.Īll of my existing music library was located on my NAS under iTunes > Music. I created a new playlist in iTunes and dragged a new song (by Drake) into the program, hoping with rose-coloured glasses the song would magically sync to the NAS. Playback has no lag and I can plug in my iPhone and sync new or different playlists. My entire library of songs and playlists loaded fine.Īt this point, everything is great. We recommend that as well as backing up your data on a regular basis, make sure you always configure your drives with some level of RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks). I hit “choose an existing library” and navigated to the iTunes folder on my NAS. In this video, we show you how to replace a failed hard disk in your QNAP NAS. I deleted my library on my laptop (Macbook Pro) and then held the option key when opening the application again. I copied my entire iTunes library to the “Multimedia” folder in my NAS. Every guide I read walks the user through the setup but not the day-to-day use. I still can’t seem to figure out the best way to add new music and now I’m having some major issues on playback. You can change admin's password and create new users.I purchased a QNAP TS-251 to offload all of my music, movies, photos, and other files for my computer. Is there a way to configure from shell command line? Anybody has managed to login with the default password? It does not accept admin/admin and keeps on asking me for username and password. I downloaded 6.0.1 and installed it, but the default admin password does not seem to work. The latest version of desktop ensures you dont face authentication and music transfer issues. Some of the suggestions here have been taken into consideration for the next release and the team has already started working on it.Īlso, please download the latest SuperSync Desktop version (Version 6.0) - being released along with the major Server update. The QNAP Server version would be version 1.1 and have tried fixing the major bugs, making Server version more stable. So you should be able to download from the official supersync downloads page: Anyways, the Beta is now going GA (general availability) on Monday. Sorry about that, I didnt observe it earlier. We appreciate the feedback and the reporting of bugs and issues and will use the input in improving SuperSync Server for QNAP. We encourage you all to keep us posted on any issues and feel free to contact our support team from our support page on Īlso, I would be keeping a regular track of all the posts here from now onwards, so you can feel free to post to this thread as well. Really appreciate you helping out the other users too. Thank you for pointing it out and am going to put this suggestion forward to the engineering team. Let's hope Supersync crew does listen here. Yes, somewhat poor the Supersync installer or init code does not make use of the (NAS stored) default share folder device information (in /etc/config/def_ ) certainly readable for the Supersync installer to distinguish the base path - if the SuperSync default path would have shown as /share/Qmultimedia it would have been much more user friendly for everyone. Code: Select all /share/Qmultimedia/Music
